OpenLink Software Releases Updated Suite of Data Access
DriversOpenLink delivers secure and high-performance,
standards-compliant data access middleware for ODBC, ADO.NET, JDBC,
and OLE-DB data access protocols
          Burlington, MA. October 2nd, 2003 - OpenLink
Software, Inc., technology leader in the development and deployment
of secure, high-performance database connectivity middleware
announces the availability of its Universal Data Access Suite,
Release 5.1 (Single-Tier and Multi-Tier Editions) for Windows,
Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, and UNIX (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, SCO
UnixWare, IRIX, Tru64 UNIX, and others). The new product release
extends the suite of OpenLink data access drivers to include
Managed .NET Data Providers, alongside the existing ODBC, JDBC, and
OLE-DB drivers — all of which also include significant feature and
functionality upgrades. Release 5.1 adds full Unicode and Rendezvous support to the
Multi-Tier edition of the ODBC Data Access Drivers Suite, while
expanding backend database support to include legacy and latest
releases of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB/2, Informix,
Sybase Adaptive Server, Progress, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and other ODBC
or JDBC accessible databases (via new ODBC-ODBC and ODBC-JDBC
Bridge Drivers). Rendezvous technology enables client hosts to
browse their local network for administratively pre-configured
server-side data sources, enabling administrators to centralize
security and configuration rules over
ODBC/JDBC/ADO.NET/OLE-DB-based sessions, thereby permitting users
to make connections with minimal knowledge or effort by removing
the need for client-side data source configuration. "ADO.NET, ODBC, JDBC, and OLE-DB, all serve a common goal,
shared by a variety of user and developer communities. These
communities ultimately crave availability of the sophisticated,
secure, high-performance data access technology that has become our
trademark," said Kingsley Idehen, President & CEO of OpenLink
Software. "This new product release continues a timeless OpenLink
commitment to the concept of Universal Data Access that transcends
Database Management Systems, Application Servers, Web Services,
Programming Languages, and Operating Systems," he added. Additional information on OpenLink Software can be obtained via
